MOTHER BETTY JEAN WARD
September 15, 1935 - November 11, 2016
Mother Betty Jean Ward, 81, the daughter of Japtha and Helen A. (Harris) Garner, was born September 15, 1935 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, and attended Lincoln High School.
Betty was full of love and enjoyed life. She loved seeing the world and worked in various fields throughout her lifetime to provide for her family. Her last job was in the Home Health Care Industry.
Betty was married several times throughout her eighty-one years, and was blessed with many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wanted to leave a legacy for her family and wrote a brief synopsis for them.
Betty lived in several cities, to include Kansas City, Missouri and Lawton, Oklahoma, from which she made her final transition.
She departed this life on Friday, November 11, 2016 at her home in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her parents, Japtha and Helen A. Garner, six brothers, James Allen Garner, Billy Garner, Harold Garner, Charles Garner, George Garner and Tommy Garner, two sisters, Anna Beatrice Dodd and Bernise Harris and two children, Manika Lynn Irving and John E. Ward, Jr., all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Charmaine Lee Irving, Denise Yvonne Allen, Monia Coral Woods, William Milton McCant, Rita Daphany Jenkin, Stacey James McCant, Stephany Marie Irving, and Bridgette Ann Ward; siblings, Georgia Dorothy Reese, Francis Poindexter, and Edmond Keith Gray; thirty grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC, 2800 East 18th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 641237 with Bishop Clifford A. Jackson, officiating. Burial Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri.
