WILBUR LAWRENCE SIMPSON
(January 4, 1951 - February 8, 2017)
Wilbur Lawrence Simpson, 66, was born January 4, 1951 in Slater, Missouri to Henry Simpson and Roberta Lyndsey.
Wilbur’s mother wanted a better life and greater opportunity for her eight children, so each child with their own suitcase, boarded the train and headed to Kansas City. Wilbur received his education in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri. He worked for J. E. Dunn Construction Company as a laborer and was a “Jack of all trades.” There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. That’s how he got the name, “Mr. Fix-it.” He loved to go to the Salvation Army and did so for many years, dedicating his time and energy to helping others. He always helped his sister, Wanda with her garden every year.
Wilbur was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Theresa Faye and Alicia Simpson. He later met and married Cynthia and together they were blessed with three beautiful children, Wilbur Jr., Letasha and Nicole. The marriage was later dissolved. Wilbur was once again blessed with his two youngest daughters, Belinda Lewis and Jessica Simpson. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.
He departed this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Glennon Place. His parents, one brother, Leslie Simpson, and two sisters, Sherly Tripp and Margaret Collins all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory seven children, Theresa Faye Simpson, Alicia Simpson, Wilbur Jr., Letasha Simpson, Nichole Simpson, Belinda Lewis and Jessica Simpson; four sisters, Wanda Carruth, Caroline Jordan, Geneva Davis and Rita Simpson; grand-children, James Walker, Devon Simpson, Tevon Simpson, Nyla Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Gabrielle Simpson, Alisia Oliver, Patrick Oliver, Jr., and Julius Oliver and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
