July 11, 1928 - June 24, 2017

Billie Jean Peterson, 88, was born to William Thomas Dickens and Pearline Tyler on July 11, 1928 in Guthrie Oklahoma.

It was there in Guthrie, she met and fell in love with Troy Williams. They married in 1943, and to this union three children were born, Wendell    Williams, George Ray Williams, and Karen Beth Williams. The marriage was later dissolved.

Wanting to be close to family, Billie Jean and her children left Oklahoma and moved to Kansas City. Shortly after that, she met and married     Donald Peterson in 1954.

Billie Jean was employed at General Motors. She also worked at Trinity Lutheran Hospital for eleven years. She was very compassionate and  enjoyed helping others. Eventually, she enrolled at Tarkio School for    Nursing where she obtained her nursing license. She was also a member and President of the Women’s Auxiliary American Legion Post 213.

Billie Jean was dedicated to serving the Lord. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew AME Zion Church. She was an active member of the  Deaconess Board, the Women’s Home, the Overseas Missionary Society, and a Sunday school teacher.

Billie Jean enjoyed playing cards, cooking her famous homemade    chocolate and cheese cakes. She loved celebrating holidays and spending time with her family and friends.

Billie Jean Dickens Peterson passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Pearline Dickens, husband, Donald Peterson, sister, Carolyn Murray, son, Wendell Williams, nephew, George “Jeep” Williams, great-grandson, Erich N.
