October 10, 1956 – November 26, 2016
Bertha Denise Anderson, 60, was born October 10, 1956 in Fort Worth Texas, the only child born to Alice Smith. She was educated in the public schools of Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from I. M. Terrell High School. She continued her education and received an Associate’s Degree in Human Services and pursued a career as a Human Services Specialist.
Bertha was very independent from a young age and was extremely protective of her own. After being blessed with three beautiful children and her marriage dissolved, she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri over twenty-five years ago, and made the Midwest her home.
Bertha was a loving, caring and compassionate person who would help anyone. She always told us to do the right thing, no matter how it felt. She loved her grandchildren like no other and was a mentor to the women that would come through her Life Skills classes. She taught self-love and worth, how to obtain employment and be successful.
Bertha loved the Lord and had a relationship with God! She accepted Christ as a child. You could walk in her room and find her on her knees praying to God.
Bertha was a wonderful mother who loved to travel, dance, dress up, family functions and cook, and boy could she cook! If you ever tasted her fried chicken, you’d know why we always wanted her to fry chicken, she had the best! Her laugh was contagious, it made you laugh. She loved to love and help others. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She answered the Master’s call on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Her mother, Alice Smith and Aunt Ethel Thompson preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Anthony Anderson, Everick Edwards and Tekisha Edwards; grand-children, Kierra, Darion, Makaylha, Jayden, Jazmin, Jaylon and Elexus and a host of friends and families she served and mentored.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Greater Pentecostal Temple at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Marvin E. Donaldson, officiating. Private Disposition.
