Angela Renee Stover (Powell)

Angel Renee Stover nee Powell, 59, passed away on December 30, 2024, at home in Kansas City. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with Mass at 10:00 on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 State Route 150, Lee’s Summit, Mo. Graveside Services will follow Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Mo. This will be a joint service also honoring her son Jonathan “Johnny” Urness who passed away on January 20, 2025. Thomas Urness, Curtis Urness, Jr., Joshua Urness, Matthew Urness, Cori Arb, Caisyn Arb, Matthew Rice, and Eric Walker will be the pallbearers.

Angela was born on January 15, 1965, to parents Hubert Ray Powell, Sr., and Willie Mae Eller Powell. She spent her early childhood in Clarksburg, Mo. before moving to Liberty. She attended Liberty High School. She married twice, first to Curtis Urness, Sr., then to Barton Stover. She was the mother of six children. She worked as a maid for Drury Inn and then for a private domestic service. Later, she began providing care for disabled children and adults, establishing her own care center at the house she then owned in Independence. Angela has been unable to work for the past several years due to health issues.

Angela will be remembered for her kindness. Even before she established her business of caring for disabled people, she would help elderly relatives and others who suffered afflictions. She rarely refused a favor to anyone in need. Even animals benefited from her good nature, as she fed strays and even wildlife, such as squirrels.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joseph Urness who died in infancy, and her brother Hubert Powell, Jr. Her son Jonathan left to meet her in heaven less than a month after her passing. She is survived by her sons Thomas Urness, Curtis Urness, Jr., Joshua Urness, and Matthew Urness; siblings Roger Powell, Carol McHenry, Gwen Powell, and Dennis Powell; grandchildren Mikayla Urness-Rearden, Avigail Urness, Josephine Urness, Dylan Urness, Jaxson Urness, and Sonny Urness; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. May she rest in peace.
