Betty Jean Harris was born on March 21, 1929 in Appleton City, Misouri, to Christopher and Myrtle Harris. Betty was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. In her earlier years, she was employed by the Bellerive Hotel.
Betty was blessed to give birth to her only child, Ronald Harris. Betty was a faithful member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, under leadership of Bishop James D. Tindall Sr., until he retired and was currently under the leadership of Bishop James Bryant. Betty served on the Mother Board, Usher Board, Hospitality Committee, and Prophecy, until her health failed. She loved to help whenever and where ever needed and called upon.
Betty had a passion for baking cookies and cakes for her family, especially her grandchildren when they’d come over and spend the day with her. For many years she enjoyed working with the Palestine Neighborhood Development Corp and the 35th and Bales Block Club because she also loved visiting with and helping her neighbors!
Betty gained her wings on March 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Myrtle Harris; sister, Barbara Harris-Grayson; brother, Thomas Harris; niece, Andrea Boyd, and a great-nephew, John Harris Sr.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories, her one and only son, Ronald Harris (Joyce); grandchildren, Ron Franklin, Portia Harris, and Bianca Harris; great- grandchildren, Turon Franklin, and Meliyah Moore; honorary grandson, Mason Neal; honorary daughter, Alice McCullough (George); special cousin, Marvina Howard; nieces, Marylyn Harris, and Karen Gatson; nephews, Mark Harris (Diane) of Las Vegas, NV, and Rodney Grayson, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.
