Betty Jane Johnson

Betty Jane Johnson was born on December 15, 1936, in Slickville, Pennsylvania to Polly Jones. 

She was educated in the Slickville Public School District. Betty worked various jobs committed to improving the lives of other people, such as, the  Salvation Army, The Greater Volunteer Foundation, as well as, volunteering at several food pantries. 

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family at Sunday dinners. She made sure that people ate whether they were family or strangers. She was a very giving, generous, and loving person, who knew no stranger and even provided housing for many. Everyone knew her as “Mama Betty”. She loved animals, and chatting with her friends on the CB radio “BREAKER, BREAKER... This is your girl BJ!”

Betty departed this life on Monday, November 21, 2022.  Her daughter, Alice Lee; son, Rev. Dr. Michael Dixon; and grandsons, Ronald Pruitt, and Demarco Knott, all preceded her in death.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Richard Pruitt, Roy Benton (Naquita), Alvin Dixon (Glenda), Gloria Patterson, Sandra Johnson, Betty Stone, all of Kansas City, MO, and Bernice Mangum (Kenneth), Arizona. and Tanya Dixon, Jefferson City, MO, and a host of grandchildren, other family, and friends.
