Charles Junior Sanders was born February 21, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri to the reverend Charles William and Bessie nay Sanders. He was raised in a loving, God-fearing home, with a very strict father, who believed in going to church every Sunday, and sometimes staying there all day. The rules that our mom and dad laid down, Charles and the rest of us knew all too well that if those rules were not met, we knew the consequences, and most of the older generations and some of the new, knew exactly what that meant? A whipping!
Junior, as we would call him as a child was a happy loving and caring person. He would give you anything he had period he was always giving. He was a generous soul. Remembering when we were kids, Charles would bring things home, beautiful items and especially jewelry and he would always make sure we all got something, he was just a kid himself, but a giver!
Charles attended Horace Mann elementary school, Mary Harmon weeks, Martin Luther King middle school, and manual high school. After high school, Charles began working various jobs, such as a handyman, maintenance, and janitorial work, any work he could find to provide for his family and himself. He was a hard worker and was called “hustler man”, because that was how he made his living. It was also a way to meet and know people. He met so many people.
Charles knew and loved the Lord, Jesus! The Lord blessed Charles to know and love people in high places. He loved his sisters, and he loved his brother, Elliot Michael, to whom he was very close. As kids junior and Michael were the dynamic duo, terrible two, as children they would get into mischief together, like hide our dolls, and they played together. Junior was Michael's Big Brother they walked to school together grew up together no matter what they did Junior and Michael would always stick together.
In his later years, Charles met the love of his life Rhonda Faye. They stayed together until the end.
Charles was the eldest son in the Sanders family and took care of us all in his own special way, no matter our ages. He was our brother. We will miss his smile, his laughter, and his jokes. He was always telling jokes and joking around we will miss just sitting and talking with him. But most of all, we will miss his presence!
Charles departed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2023. His parents, Charles and Bessie Sanders; sister, Deloris Jean Humphrey; brother, Charles Sanders II, and brother in-law, Arthur Montgomery, all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Charles Sanders II, and Tony Williams Sanders; one daughter, Cheryl Sanders, all of Kansas City MO; six sisters, Mary Ann Lee (Peter), Joyce Brown, Betty Montgomery Jackson, Linda Carter (Billy) Bessie Marie Sanders, all of Kansas City, MO, and Rosey Mason (Gerald), San Diego, CA; two brothers, Elliot Michael Sanders, Kansas City, MO and Gerald W. Sanders, Flint, MI; life-partner, Rhonda Faye Green, Kansas City, MO and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
