Chester Gates

Chester Gates was born on New Years'' Day, January 1, 1977 in Kansas City, MO to the union of Gwendolyn Gates and  Chester Clarence White II.

Chester was a life long resident of Kansas City,  Missouri. He attended Carver Christian Day School and Brookside School.

He was baptized at an early age at Progressive  Baptist Church. In 2010, Chester was blessed with his only child, a baby girl, and decided to name her Spirit.  He became a member of  G.R.A.C.E. Fellowship Church in Raytown, where he attended along with his daughter, Spirit. 

Chester was formerly employed with W.W. Grainger Inc., Wolferman's KC, Burd and Fletcher, and recently employed at KC Motor Parts. Chester’s true profession was the "gift of gab", known for his quick wit, philosophical banter and know how on everything.

Chester passed away on Friday, Jan 13, 2023 at UH/KC Hospital surrounded by his loving family, Pastor, and close friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester C. White II. 

His precious memories are left to be cherished by his daughter, Spirit Gates ( A Daddy's Girl); her mom, Shantrice; parents, Gwendolyn and Roger Buckner; sisters, Patrice, Shauna, and Amelia; The Watkins Family; aunt, Gloria; cousins, (who were like his siblings), Adoria, Angela, Dorothy and Malcom; Rachel, (his bonus Mom); nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; the Swanson Family, Lloyd, Janae, Layla, L.J., Collie Allen, Veloris Allen; The Bros, Lloyd, Terrell, Mike, Chris, Sergio, "Dude", and a host of other family, and friends. 

Chester’s sense of humor, and quick wit was contagious regardless of the subject he would always leave you laughing after every conversation. He adored his only child Spirit  (A True Daddy's Girl).  

Services were held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at G.R.A.C.E. Fellowship Church, 8614 Raytown Road, Raytown, MO 64138, with Pastor Kevin McNeil, Officiant.
