Darlene L. Williams

Dr. Darlene L. Williams was born Darlene L. Thompson in Los Angeles, California, to James Thompson and Gloria D. Williams.

Darlene graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1981. She studied Fashion Merchandise and Business at Penn Valley Community College. She was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. She studied Project Management at Central Piedmont Community College. She graduated from The Francis Institute of Child & Youth Development. She would go on to work as an early childhood educator at Operation Breakthrough and St. Mark’s Early Education Center. She graduated from Faith Bible College with her Master’s in Christian Education, and her Doctorate in Christian Business Administration. She was the creator and founder of Beloved Creations Incorporated.

Darlene married Steven D. Williams and was blessed with 3 beautiful children. 

Darlene loved to work for nonprofits to help offer services such as vaccines, clothing and food to her community. She was an aspiring author who wrote pieces ranging from poetry and educational literature to children’s books. She was a gifted artist specializing in ceramics and acrylic paintings. She was a phenomenal seamstress.

Darlene transitioned from this life in December 2024. Her father, James Thompson, precedes her in death.

Darlene leaves to cherish her memory her husband Steven D. Williams; her children Shanae L. McClenton (Steven L. McClenton, Sr.), Cameron D. Williams, and Courtland D. Williams; her mother Gloria D. Williams; her grandchildren Kai L. Laurent-Williams, Steven L. McClenton Jr., Soledad J. McClenton, Soie J. McClenton; her siblings James D. Thompson, Sr., Gregory L. Thompson, Sr., Chrystal J. Thompson, Tyrone Thompson, Grace L. Henderson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

A Memorial service will  be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC , 2800 E. 18th, Kansas City, MO 64127. The service will begin at 10:00 AM. 

Burial will be held on Thursday January 23, 2025 at 12:30 P.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Munice Rd. Leavenworth, Kansas.
