Darnell Lamont Poke Sr.

Darnell Lamont Poke, Sr., affectionately known as Pooh passed away December 17, 2024 at Promise Skilled nursing facility, Overland Park, KS. He was born on October 30, 1978 in Detroit, Michigan to Willie Brown and Carolyn Poke.

Pooh’s family relocated back to Kansas City, Missouri when he was five years old. He attended the Kansas City Missouri School District. He obtained his GED in the state of Texas.

Pooh married the love of his life Tamicka Woods February 14, 2004. To this union they had three children Darnell Jr. (DJ), Darrion (Bam), and Dione. Also, he was the bonus father to Keon and Kierstyn Williams. He loved his children.

Pooh was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.W. Poke, and Essie Poke and Reverend Willie Brown and Marie Brown. His father Willie Brown they shared a special bond, his younger brother Calvin Poke, uncles Dennis Brown and Wesley Poke.

Darnell (Pooh) is survived by his wife Tamicka, sons Darnell Jr., Darrion, Dione, Keon Jr. (grands Kailani, Kannon, Kaysen) daughter Kierstyn. His mother Carolyn Poke-Brown brothers Aaron L. Poke, Dawaun Poke; sisters Tiffany D. Poke, and Danielle W. Drone (Rev. C.T.) mother in law Rosalind Powers; nephews , nieces, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends.
