David "Dave" C. Paffenroth died suddenly on June 23, 2024 at age 63. He was born February 5, 1961 in Middletown, New York. Dave grew up in Stroudsburg, Pa and lived most of his adult life in Kansas City, MO. Dave loved playing sports (football, basketball, wrestling, track and field) and received many awards and accolades throughout his career for his athleticism, including Lehigh Valley athlete of the year and the Big "33" Team. He also held the Pennsylvania State shot put record for many, many years.
He was inducted into several sports Halls of Fame. He was a member of the 1982 National Championship Penn State Nittany Lions Football Team. He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs Football Team, where his career was shortened due to injuries. He remained in Kansas City, where he coached for multiple Division 2 and 3 colleges throughout the Midwest. He once was the offensive coordinator for the lowa Barnstormers, a professional Arena Football League Team. After retiring from coaching, Dave went on to host many youth football camps throughout the country.
He leaves behind his daughter Alexandra Buck (Paffenroth) and her husband Jeff and three grandchildren of Kansas City, Mo, his son David Paffenroth, Jr. and his wife Lauren of Memphis, TN and their mother Mimi Maley Paffenroth, his mother Joan Smith of Blackwood, NJ, sister Laura Paffenroth of Blackwood, NJ, brother Andrew Paffenroth and partner Kelly of Annapolis, MD, sister Victoria McDonnell (Paffenroth) and husband Patrick of Bluffton, SC. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Hartley Paffenroth and his stepfather James (Bunk) Smith.
He was loved very much and will be sadly missed. Dave's legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know him. Rest in peace!
