Dorothy Joreen Smith, (Holland, Mooney) was the eldest daughter of Joseph & Eula Mae Thompson Smith. She was born December 7, 1934, in Tallahassee Florida. She spent her formative years in Volusa County, New Smyrna Beach Florida. She married James Earl Holland of Chicago Illinois. To this union were five children, Mr. Holland proceeded her in death in July 1965.
Emeritus Mooney was a licensed Evangelist of this Diocese and has been a member of The Church of Living God since 1954, she joined Women’s Work in 1964, She sang in the National Choir until 1978, She was ordained in June 1978, she was the 2 nd female to be ordained in the COTLG CWFF. Superintendent of Sunday School, Assistant Pastor and Pastor.
She worked for the United States Postal Office for 40 years until she retired. She married Reverend Duey Mooney in 1969. Reverend Mooney proceeded her in death.
She was proceeded in death by her mother Eula Mae Zanders, Her brother Chief Master Sergeant Ezra Smith, Her Sister Roslind Lowry, one half Sister Alonia Butler and a grandson J’Andre Holland. She leaves to mourn her loss Four son’s Rodney Zanders (Linda), Rory Holland, Lawrence Holland, and two daughters Regina Holland & Lynn McCreary, Grandchildren, D’Anthony Morrison, Deidra Morrison- Wells (Napoleon), Ladeana McGee, Cheryl & Gee Williams, Stephanie Holland- Williams, Heather Holland, Laurna Zanders, Niece Lariya Lowry, Nephew Ryan Lowry. A host of many Great-grandchildren, Great nieces & nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 28, 2025, visitation will be held from 8:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. with services beginning at 10:30 A.M. at Church of The Living God 300 N. Garfield St. Bonner Springs, Kansas
