Girtha Elaine Walker

Girtha Elaine Byers Walker was born on June 28, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas to Roman Byers, Sr., and Gertrude (Moore) Byers. Everyone affectionately called her “Elaine” which is her middle name.

Many people knew her as a fun loving, outgoing person.  Her friendly smile and love for family and others was generously given.

Elaine was raised at Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Kansas City, Missouri, and accepted Christ at an early age.  She loved her Church and attended until her health prevented her from going.

Elaine departed this life on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death  by her parents, sisters, Minnie Byers Edmonson and Romella Byers, and brothers, Naleathon Byers, and Roman Byers Jr and a grandchild, Ny’Onne Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a Son, Walter Wilson Jr. and a Daughter, Tami Wilson; four grandchildren, Daijeona Wilson, Roman Wilson, D’Marion Wilson, and Zaidrian Wilson; one great-grandson, Rasaun Wilson; sisters in-la,s Zella Byers and Tyretta Byers;  nieces and nephews, Paula Allen (Wayne), Beverly Byers, Dwayne Byers (Carla), Craig Byers (Shelly), Kenneth Powell (Liz), and Jennifer Johnson (Brian); lifelong special friends, Loretta Jackson, Pearl Tallie, Debra Wheat, Peggy Bell and Faye Williamson, and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends. 

Internment : Forest Hill Cemetery
