Gregory Alan Soward Sr.

Gregory Alan Soward Sr., was born March 28, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI to John D. Soward and Arlene Gibbs.
Mr. Soward attended and graduated from Blytheville High School in Blytheville, Arkansas. During high school, he played the Trumpet and Basketball.
In Houston, Texas Greg was employed with Conoco Phillips Company and after he went to work for Marathon Oil Corporation. Then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for Harold Penners, Family Justice Center, Crittenton Alternative School and UPS.

While settling in Kansas City, he met Sandra R. Richardson. Within this union 2 children were born, Gregory Alan Soward II and Joshua NaShon Soward, and a step-daughter that he raised Anjanette Richardson. He later met Ms. Hazel Jean Tanner and her children from a previous marriage, Maurice Tanner, Marshawn Tanner and Marlon Tanner.

Greg Alan Soward Sr., departed this life on Friday March 08, 2024. His maternal Grandparents, paternal Grandparents, his father, John D. Soward, and his mother, Arlene Gibbs, Sandra R. Richardson, Hazel Jean Soward, preceded him in death.

Greg leaves to cherish his memory, oldest son Gregory Alan Soward II, youngest son Joshua NaShon Soward, Step-daughter Anjanette Richardson, Step-daughter MarShawn Tanner, Step-sons Maurice Tanner and Marlon Tanner. Older Siblings Wendy Osborn and Michael Soward and cousin Mary Tyler. Grand Children Katana Soward, Tamarion Soward, Jasmine Richardson, Byron Westbrooks, Deontez Denson, Heaven Richardson. Nakesha Hawkins, Maurice Tanner Jr., Shaunice Williams, Shardae Williams, Marlon Tanner Jr., Zaria Tanner, and Major Tanner. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2024, visitation will be held from 2 P.M. - 3 P.M. with services beginning at 3 P.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC 2800 East 18th st., KCMO 64127.
