James Dilworth Robinson was born May 5, 1942 in Fort Riley, Kansas to James and Juanita Robinson. He was one of two sons born to this union. Both parents and his brother, Ernest preceded him in death.
James attended school in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After school, he went to work for Ragsdale Funeral Home in Muskogee, until he moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1965. There he went to work for the city of Kansas City Missouri, for ten years. He then worked for Kansas City Power & Light Company. After 25 years of service with KCP&L, he retired. During this time, he had two sons, Robert and Ernest with his wife, Deloris Vaugh-Robinson.
In 1993, he dialed a wrong number and met, Mahoma Smith. This chance meeting blossomed into a relationship that lasted until she passed away in 2022. He loved to cook, play music and hunt.
James departed this life on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
James leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Robert (Edith) of Virginia, and Ernest (Danielle) of Liberty, MO; stepdaughters, Winso Williams of KC, MO, and Tara Fletcher (Kenneth) of Denver, CO; six grand-children, including Darren Gardner (Rita) of Fort Collins, CO, Myles Fletcher (Mikayla) of Houston, TX; two great-grandchildren, many other relatives, and friends.
James really appreciated the kindness shown to him from friends and family. The calls, visits, and help doing things around his home meant a lot to him. It did not go unnoticed, and he wanted to express a special thank you to all those who showed him love.
