James Franklin Ivory Jr. was born on December 23, 1962, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to James Ivory Sr. and Linda Ivory. He was the 5th of 11 children. His father, James Franklin Ivory Sr.; brothers, Marvin Lewis Mays and Vernon Lee Travis Jr.; and sister, Phyllis Ann Travis, have preceded him in death.
“Frankie,” as we would call him, came to Kansas City, Kansas, as a child. He attended Kansas City Kansas public schools: Bryant Elementary, Northwest, Argentine, and Harmon. Frankie was very athletic and loved the sport of basketball, at which he excelled. At the last family gathering, he was seen giving tips to his nieces and nephews as they threw the football and bounced the basketball.
Frankie was a loving brother, a protector, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. He had a big heart and loved his family, but he would let you know that his number one girl was his mother, whom he called "Linda Lou, my girl!" He loved her so much. Frankie also worked as a mechanic.
We thank God for the last four months we had with Frankie because the family came together on several occasions, enjoying each other. Most importantly, in September of 2024, Frankie rededicated his life back to Christ at Greater Pentecostal Temple.
On December 26, 2024, James Franklin Ivory Jr. (Frankie) fell asleep and transitioned to a better life in Christ. He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Morteen Ivory; one son, James Ivory; and four grandchildren: Markei Williams, Zayne Dockery, Zahiria Ivory, and Angelo Ivory.
He also leaves two bonus daughters, Andera (Tishan) Cubit and LaTasha (Niecey) Cubit; his mother, Linda Harris, of Kansas City, Kansas; three brothers, David Lee Ivory (Latoya) and Roscoe Harris of Kansas City, Kansas, and Jerry W. Travis (Shonteau) of San Antonio, TX; and four sisters, Janice Evans, Vickie Holmes (Eugene), Charlotte Travis (Melvin), and Charmain Travis, all of Kansas City, Kansas. He also had a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
We love you, Frankie!
