Gonzalo was born on September 24th in Tecamachalco De Guerrero, Puebla to Amalia Gonzalina Muñoz Vera and Modesto Arenas Fernandez. Gonzalo studied tourism at Roberto Cañedo in Puebla, Mexico.
He worked many jobs but always worked with what he loved, people and food. Gonzalo accomplished many great things in life, leaving a beautiful imprint in this world, leaving so much love and positivity.
He met and married Guadalupe “Lupita” Briseño and were blessed with three children. Gonza enjoyed so many things but soccer, dancing, and a good tequila were his favorite. He always relished being surrounded by his family and friends and never met a stranger.
He was a man who enjoyed life wherever rooted in him. He loved his land Palmar like no other. He came to the United States and planted his roots learning to love this land as well. He was a quick study and although he faced many challenges like his car accident in 2003 which nearly took his life, he faced all of it with grace and strength. He was resilient in learning all basic skills again and persevered, for his family.
His health challenges were fought with no fear. All so he could be with his family as long as possible, that was always his goal.
He was always so grateful to the doctors and nurses who helped him through it all. He made sure that his time although there was no treatment, every person left his room with a smile. I have shared chocolates he had with every single person who helped- EVERYONE. He said he was handing out “shots”- his way of spreading joy.
In his last days he enjoyed his grandchildren like no other. He made his famous “carnitas” for the Super Bowl.
All the visits he had while he was in the hospital made him so happy. He was happy to see his family, most of all his nieces and nephews, it was such an overwhelming joy. He rested and left this Earth in such a peaceful way surrounded by love, which was his goal. That is what he left behind, peace and love.
Gonzalo rejoiced in reuniting with his cherished son, mother, and father February 13th 2025.
Gonza leaves his memory to be carried on by his wife Lupita, his daughters Damara (Jared), Andy (Dante), and Olivia. His Grandchildren Itzel, Ava, Max, Xochitl, Reigha, and Kenley. His siblings Manuel Arenas (Fabiana), Modesto Arenas (Esther), Jorge Arturo Arenas (Doris), Miguel Alvarez (Teresa), Ulises Alvarez, Maria De Los Angeles Alvarez (Mauricio), Maria Inez Alvarez Muñoz (Daniel), Alfredo Alvarez (Susy). His Cousins who he loved dearly. His nieces and nephews who he loved seeing and being around. His mother-in-law, Lourdes, as well as his brothers and sisters in law. He also leaves his memory to be carried on by his many adopted daughters and sons who joined us as friends and he made sure they became family.
“I hope the days you have spent without me have not been filled with so much heartache and sadness. I hope they have been filled with all the love, strength, and happiness you deserve. Although I am no longer with you on Earth please know that I am always watching over you, I have not missed a beat. Life is a gift and I want you to always remember to make the most of it. Love life, go see the world, always be kind to others and never give up on those dreams of yours. When you areas please remember that you always carry a piece of me with you. We are forever connected, no matter the distance.
You have my heart, you are my heart.
When you are missing me, think of all the happy times, the laughter and love we shared. I know I cannot be by your side to tell you it will all be okay. But you must know that my love for you never went away. Never forget I live in your heart. And one day when the time is right, I will see you again and hug you so tight.”

Sus hermanos y hermanas Manuel Arenas (Fabiana), Modesto Arenas (Esther), Jorge Arturo Arenas (Doris), Miguel Alvarez (Teresa), Ulises Alvarez, Maria De Los Angeles Alvarez (Mauricio), Maria Inez Alvarez Muñoz (Daniel), Alfredo Alvarez (Susy).
