Juanita Maxine Simmons ( McCowan)

Maxine J. Simmons was born to Juanita Silvers and Henry Mcowan on June 30, 1937. Her parents; husband, Clifton Simmons; daughter, Delarie Simmons; grandson, Leonard Simmons; and granddaughter, Kendall Foster, all preceded her in death.Maxine was a graduate of Lincoln High School. As a young woman, she worked at Kline’s Department Store, where she was loved by all of her customers. She later worked for Field Enterprises and sold World Book Encyclopedias.

Maxine was a top sales associate and won many trips and prizes for her hard work.Maxine was a dedicated member of Central Church for over 50 years, where she participated in the choir, CWF, and her most passionate gift—her card ministry. She sent cards to her friends, family, and church members for birthdays, anniversaries, “thinking of you” moments, and get-well wishes. If you knew Maxine, you would receive a card from her. Because of her background in sales, she used those skills to raise money for church anniversaries, which she loved to do.

Maxine was a loving wife, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Floyd Simmons (Frankcine) of Kansas City, MO, and Clifton Simmons of Patton, CA; godsons, Jonnie Crawford and Reggie Park; daughters, Wyvette Simmons, Valerie Simmons Hughes, Robin Simmons, and Francine Simmons Foster (Ronald), all of Kansas City, MO; goddaughters, Caprise Young and Marily Williams; twelve grandchildren, all of Kansas City, MO; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
