Kenneth Ray Washam, (70), was born into this world on September 23, 1951, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to the union of Emory and Lillie Mae Stallworth.
With his mother and siblings, Kenneth relocated from Mississippi to Kansas City, Missouri at the early age of 8 years old. Once there, he accepted Christ under Rev. John Oxley of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Through Kansas City Public Schools, Kenny completed his primary education at Wendell Phillips Elementary and his secondary education at Central High School.
Throughout his life, he was a Renaissance man, taking an interest in everything from cars, to sports, DIY projects and more. You name it, he could probably fix it. During his lifetime, Kenneth was employed at Sears Roebuck in the automotive department, received his CNA license and also worked at various cab companies and bus companies throughout KCMO, serving special needs children.
One of his biggest passions, however, was his green thumb. Maybe it was because of his Southern roots, but Kenny could and would plant and grow just about anything. He kept an immaculate yard and thriving garden. Other hobbies that took up his time included fishing, drag racing, and a love for roller skating.
After a long fought battle, Kenneth departed this life on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the KC Hospice House and Palliative Care Facility. Though his health declined, his mind remained sharp, strong and lively. Kenny's smile and laughter was shared with many and he was always the life of the party. He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Eugene Washam and daughter, Kendra Washam-Williams.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his children: sons, Kenneth Ray Barfield (Gina), Kelvin Williams, and Thomas Washam; daughters, Nikisha R. Washam, Tanya Brown (Henderson), and Tiara Washam-Williams; brother, JB Washam (Debra); sister, Retha Randolf (Marqus), and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and special friends.
