Larry Dean Lackey

Larry Dean Lackey, age 65, peacefully passed away on November 8, 2024, surrounded by his immediate family. Larry was born to Delbert and Doris Lackey on June 10, 1959 in Kansas City, MO. He married Stacey Lynn on August 15, 1992 and graciously took in her three sons, Joshua, Adam, and Tyler Gable, as his own. 

Larry spent 27 years working for the City of Kansas City Water Department.Larry was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Chiefs, but only with permission by his beloved wife, of course! Larry found immense joy in coaching his sons and many others within the Northland Chiefs youth football program, as well as various baseball teams, including those of his sons, brother and nephews.Beyond sports, family was paramount to Larry. 

He cherished every moment with his loved ones. He enjoyed visiting new places and making memories while vacationing, especially with his brother Randy, sister-in-law, Anita, and niece, Taylor. Larry enjoyed spending his summers at the lake, his happy place, where he would fish with his grandsons and swim with all of his grandchildren. Larry’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. Papa could not say no and they all learned that very early! 

Larry is survived by his wife, Stacey Lackey; his step-sons: Joshua (Mandy) Gable, Adam (Angel) Gable, and Tyler (Katey) Gable; his grandchildren Morgan Elizabeth, Dalton Kevin, Logan Russell, Aubree Rose, Ellie Anne, Mya Sue, Ragan Lynn, and Macey June; his siblings: Lee Roy (Debbie Lou) Lackey, Debbie Jean Lackey, Carolyn (Bobby) Johnson, Rick (Debbie Kay) Lackey, and Randy (Anita) Lackey; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Doris Lackey; his mother-in-law, Janet Sue Seghers; his sister-in-law Deana Sue Seghers; and his great nephew, Christian Lackey. 

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Cornerstone Bible Church (10336 NW Prairie View Rd., Kansas City, MO 64153).
