Leroy Blaylock Jr.

Leroy Blaylock Jr was born February 20, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Leroy Blaylock Sr
and Helen O. Blaylock. Leroy was the second oldest brother but was looked upon as the “Big Brother” of
eight siblings.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Blaylock Sr; his mother, Helen O. Blaylock; grandparents,
William and Elzie Blaylock, Virgil, and Estelle Gunn; great grandparents, Allen and Hellen Momon, brother
Frank Blaylock, Sister, Janice Murrell and Brother, William “Billy” Blaylock; Aunt, Mary Lucille Robinson
and Edna M. Gunn; Uncles, James Blaylock Jr and Eugene Blaylock, Leon A. Gunn, Shirley Clark
Leroy Blaylock Jr, acquired his education in the Kansas City Public School District, attending Lincoln
College Preparatory Academy where he graduated in 1982 where he was a great basketball player. He
started his career at an early age, learning from his father who taught him how to work on cars and he
collaborated with him by working at Mike’s Turf Farm, laying sod. Until his health failed, he worked as an
Auto Mechanic at Hurd’s Automotive and helped many people.
Leroy took pride in being able to help people. He took joy in feeding the homeless and he loved fishing.
He was a good-hearted person who would give the shirt off his back if he knew someone needed it. He
was down-to-earth and had an infectious smile. He loved his fur babies, Apollo-Creed, and Honey-Bee.
He was a family-man that took pride in being the best husband, father, big brother and loved being called,
“Papa” by all fourteen grandkids. He was a sports fanatic and a die-hard Kansas City Chief’s fan. He
faithfully watched his soap operas, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
Leroy departed this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home. He was 60 years old.
