Louise Marie Duncan

January 22, 1955 - February 3, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Louise Marie Duncan. Louise, age 70, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Louise had just celebrated her 70th birthday before her passing in early February. Her three children were grateful to be by her side during her final days. Louise had a huge heart, a great sense of humor, and loved dressing up in her sparkly bling. She was very proud to be born and raised in Kansas City and was an enormous Chiefs fan. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Louise was preceded in death by her father, Joe Duncan, and brothers Eddie Paul, Larry Joe, and Richard Duncan.

She is survived by her three children, Christine Carman, Michael (Christina) Lapka, and Julie (Ben) Henion; six grandchildren, Austin Carman, Aidan Carman, Duncan Lapka, Emmett Lapka, Benji Henion, and Lilyan Henion; her mother, Julia Lucille Duncan; brother, Robert (Naomi); and three sisters, Carol Duncan (Dan), Susan (Glenn) Powell, and Sandra (Kent) Hayes. Louise also leaves behind many extended family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to National Awareness on Mental Illness, https://www.nami.org, in honor of Louise.

Here are a few poems Louise enjoyed

Pennies from HeavenI found a penny today just laying on the groundBut it's not just a penny this little coin I've found"Found" pennies come from heaven that's what my Grandpa told meHe said angels toss then down oh, how I loved that storyHe said when an angel misses you they toss a penny downSometimes just to cheer you up make smile out of your frownSo don't pass by that penny when you're feeling blueIt may be a penny from heaven that an angel tossed to you .    C. For Those I Love

When I am gone, release me, let me go.I Have so many things to see and do.You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears: Be happy that we had so many years, I gave you my love. You gave me happiness. I thank you for all the love you each have shown. But now it is time to travel on, alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for awhile that we must part.So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on.So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with you heart, you'll hear. All of my love with you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome you Home  "(Unknown)

Prayer from her mother Lucille Daily Prayer to Guardian Angel Angel of God My guardian dearTo Whom His love Commits me here Ever this dayBe at my sideTo light and guardTo rule and guide. Amen

A celebration of life will be held on February 22. Time and location are to be determined; we will post an update soon.
