Manolete “John” Garcia, 67, died at home on May 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Arlene Sanders, and Father, Juan Hernandez Garcia. He was also preceded in death by the aunt and uncle who raised him, Tena and Howard Keim, his grandparents David and Mary Schon.
John graduated from Griswold Community High School in 1975. He was a former Montgomery County Sheriff – Special Deputy. A former Red Oak Fire Department EMT, studying medicine at Southwestern Community College. He was a former floral designer at Urban Earth Flowers. He studied gourmet cooking at the Cordon Bleu School of Cooking in Paris and catered meals for some of the stars when he returned to the States.
He lived in New Orleans until 2005 when Hurricane Katrina took everything he owned except his dog. He then moved to Kansas City, MO where he retired as manager of West Port Manor after 18 years. He is survived by his older twin brother (by 20 minutes) Gitano “Joe” Garcia of Lincoln, NE, his half-sisters Vivian Cartwright of Greensboro, NC, Hanna Gamson of Long Beach, CA, his favorite great-niece who he referred to as his Elf, Karlee Smith and many friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. And a grateful thank you to his health care aide, John Davis.
Per his wishes there will be no services and he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local animal shelter. Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC of Kansas City, MO are serving the Garcia family.
