Marv Eugene Johnson Sr. peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on September 15, 1963, in Kansas City, KS, to Thelma V. and O’Gene W. Johnson, he was the youngest of two beloved children. He was baptized at an early age at Gregg Tabernacle A.M.E. Church.
Marv received his formal education at St. Therese Little Flower and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1981, where he excelled as a member of the Varsity Basketball Team.
He began his professional career at General Motors and later concluded his journey in the Transportation Department at Swope Parkway Health Center.
In 1982, Marv met Victoria King (Taylor), and together they celebrated the joy of raising three wonderful children.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, stepmother Paula Duffy, stepbrother Jimmy Easom, and his cherished grandson, Marvin LaRoy Thomas.
Marv is lovingly remembered by his mother, Thelma V. Johnson, and his father, O’Gene W. Johnson, along with his children, Patricia A. King, Tyisha V. King, and Marv E. Johnson Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jazzmin A. Robinson, DaRylan E. Walls, Shyanne A. Ware, Marvy’onna N. Johnson, Zay’Sean M. Hill, and Zay’Vion E. Johnson, and his great-granddaughter, Jahara A. Robinson.
Additionally, he is survived by his aunt, Marquita Cavole; uncle, Marvin J. Jackson; sister, Jonette Johnson; stepsisters, Tara Dawes (Gregory) and Debi Easom; as well as his niece, Keana M. Johnson; nephew, Cedric T. Franklin; great-niece, Kyra M. Brown; great-nephew, Jaylon H. Brown; and a multitude of cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 2835 Indiana Ave, Kansas City, Missouri 64128.
