Mattie Lena Hargiss

Mattie Lena Hargiss born July 8th, 1920. She was born to Wil-liam Riley Brock and Effie May Brock in Rome, Georgia.
She became a wife and a mother to five children, Violet, Jerry, Sharon, Donald and Nora Moore. She was a wonderful mother who raised her children on her own. She worked hard at Dells Potato till her retirement back in the 1970s. Mattie became a grandmother in 1960 and soon became known as “Granny”. She loved and danced with her grandchildren and played cards with them. She was a wonderful grandmother and all of her grand-children cherished their time with her. She always gave great advice and was available to us all in our times of need and there to support us in our happy times as well. She was a strong wom-an and a very kind mother. She was running after her great grandchildren before we knew it. She has been with us all through all of our life. She was the one staple in the family that has kept us all connected. We feel lucky to have had her as long as we did. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great, great grandchildren. Six generations of family that has all started with Mattie.
Some of her family preceding her in death awaiting at Heavens gate to welcome her home, her mother and father, son, Donald Moore; brothers, Buddy and Junior Moore; grandchild, Kim-berly Farmer; three great-grandchildren, Aaron Saettone, Lance Lyman, and Daisy Martinez.

As we all sit here remembering our mother and grandmother, we will remember how lucky we have been to have this strong, feisty, woman in our lives. She was a one of a kind and there will never be another Granny. If love gets you to heaven, granny, well, you got there faster than anybody! We will remember your laugh and how you being 90 and still running across the yard to the grandbabies. We will remember you reading your detective magazines and your stories from days gone by. We will think of you and remember your purse and how it had anything you might need inside, a mint, a comb or a Kleenex. You were always here and we are going to miss you everyday. I hope the angels are playing country music for you and you are dancing in heaven with everyone you missed. Rest easy granny you deserve it.
