Maurice Williams

Maurice Williams was a child of the '60s, born on August 17, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, to his loving parents, Willie B. Williams Sr. and Mary Ann Williams. After several years in California, his parents packed up the family and headed east, eventually settling in Kansas City, Missouri. Though always proud of his West Coast roots, Kansas City became the place he called home.

Maurice was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, looking forward to every game and celebrating each opening day. He was rarely seen without his signature Chiefs cap and gear, proudly displaying his love for the team.

He graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1981. Maurice was well-known for his charm and popularity, especially among the ladies, who adored him in return.

Maurice found his professional calling at Pitney Bowes law firm in downtown Kansas City, where he worked for many years. His role allowed him to travel, enriching his life and broadening his experiences. He worked hard, formed lifelong friendships, and built a career he was proud of.

Later in life, Maurice was blessed with three wonderful children: his daughters Danielle Murphy of Springfield, MO, and Marisa Moore of Phoenix, AZ, and his son Monty LaFond of Kansas City, MO. He also had a loving bond with his stepson, Griffin Randolph of Kansas City, MO, whom he cherished as his own.

Maurice was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Williams; his father, Willie B. Williams Sr.; his grandmother, Rebecca Young; his grandfather, Booker T. Young; his siblings, Jeanette Williams, Willie Williams II, and Diane Williams; and his nephew, Jason Williams. These losses deeply affected him, but he remained a pillar of strength and support for his family.

On March 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease, Maurice left this earthly realm. However, it would be wrong to say he lost his battle—because he never stopped fighting. No matter how sick he became, he remained determined and unwavering. When others may have broken, Maurice stood firm. Through him, we have learned the true meaning of resilience and perseverance. Even in his final moments, he imparted yet another lesson in strength.

Maurice leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his loved ones: his daughters Danielle Murphy and Marisa Moore, his sons Monty LaFond and Griffin Randolph, his sisters Berthina Brown and Shadonna Williams and her spouse, Larry Dean, and his brothers Jessie Williams and Shawn Humphrey and his spouse, Christine Humphrey. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Maurice’s legacy of love, strength, and determination will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
