Ms. Barbara Ann Dowdy

Barbara Ann Dowdy was born Thursday, October 20, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Bobbie and Reba Dowdy.

Barbara was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Lincoln High School.

Barbara accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized at Sacred Mission Missionary Baptist Church. 

She started a family and mothered two beautiful daughters. Barbara loved to travel, shop, and spend time with her family. Barbara worked in Payroll for many years and recently retired. She also volunteered with Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC.  Barbara was not one to sit still. Whenever a car was on the go, whether it was shopping, a game or a family gathering she was on the move. She loved spoiling her grandkids.

Barbara transitioned to Glory on Friday, January 7, 2022, surrounded by her family. Her parents, grandparents, nephew, Craig Williams Sr., and niece, Waynette Perry all preceded her in death.

Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memory, Children: Chandra and   Bettie Sanders of Kansas City, MO; Grandsons: Walter Sorrells Jr., and      De Andre Sorrells of Dallas, TX; Granddaughter, Ta Zhanae McClunie      of Kansas City, MO;  one Great-granddaughter, Anala Jewell Sorrells of    Dallas, TX; Siblings: Marilyn (Milton), Rodney, Wayne Sr., Kevin Sr., (Valerie), Nathan, Sandra (Malik), Donna (Bud), Gwendolyn (Peter),   Donna Hart, Douglas,  Andrea (Able); special friend: Tyna Mitchell and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces,  cousins, other relatives, and friends.
