Rise Harris was born February 25, 1958 to the union of Leon Harris, Jr. and Lonnie B. (King) Harris. She was the fifth of six children.
Rise accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1976. She later took college courses at Penn Valley.
Rise always enjoyed traveling to Lexington as a child to visit grandparents, cousins, and aunts. She later moved from Kansas City to Lexington to be closer to her family and friends.
Shortly after getting settled into Lexington, she was hired at the local Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Rise worked at KFC for several years before becoming employed by Higginsville Rehabilitation Center. She also maintained a part-time job at Places (a local retail store in Lexington). Rise was always a hard worker and was dedicated to her work. She went on to retire from the Rehabilitation Center in Higginsville, Missouri.
Rise’s greatest joy was helping others. She loved spending time with family and friends. She never met a stranger. Her radiant smile and loving ways brought joy to all who knew her. Rise was very caring and loving. Anyone who had the opportunity to be loved by Rise, knew they were truly loved.
