After moving to Kansas City, Kansas the family united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church and later the Zion Hill Baptist Church where Norma Jean was baptized. At the age of 12, the family united with the Rising Star Baptist Church where she remained throughout her teenage and young adult life singing “in Times Like These.” Norma Jean's most recent church home was Faith Deliverance Worship Center.
Norma Jean gift was edification encouraging others to look at the brighter side of things and remind them “everything happens for a reason, and it always works out for your good.” If you met and knew her, you would NEVER forget who she was. She moved to the rhythm of her own beat! She didn't care about ANYTHING anyone had to say. She was definitely the life of the party. A very confident, charismatic, out spoken, empowered young woman that survived Breast Cancer and other life obstacles. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Norma Jean made her transition from this life, Tuesday March 21, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. Her parents, David and Leosa Manning; brother, Albert; sister in-law, Altha Mae; mother in-love, Mildred Hinson; and her Precious G-Babies, all preceded her in death.
Norma Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, Ira Norwood, Ebony Miller (Jejuan Miller), Abasi Baker and Darnell Baker; sister, Quincie M. Colding of Kansas City, KS; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Shedreese Colding-Scott and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
