I left you…I’ve gone home…
His Lord said unto him, Well done good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make the ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord. ~ Matthew 25:23 KJV
Nyiesha Cozzette was born on August 17, 1977, in Waterbury, CT to Richard Harold Morrison and Lori Allison Mitchell. She lived, laughed, and played with her family and friends in Waterbury. At the age of 12, she moved to Missouri with her parents and sisters to embark on a new chapter of life. Nyiesha graduated from Winnetonka High School in the North Kansas School District and had been employed with Johnson Controls since 1998. She was a kind, gentle-hearted child who blossomed into a courageous, free-spirited, nurturing young woman.
Nyiesha was affectionately loved and called NaNa, Momma Ny or NY by everyone she knew. Nyiesha's two hearts became one in 2009 when Nyiesha married the love of her life, DeRande Williams. “NY” was so caring and compassionate she had a way of making you feel loved and never alone. She had a love for children that filled her life with great joy even as a child she was drawn to nurture other children. “Momma Ny” dreamed and desired to open a daycare where she could give ALL the joy and agape love that God had given to her. “NaNa” loved spending time with her family playing cards and laughing and as much as she loved children her true passion was serving the body of Christ. Nyiesha was aware of her obligations to Christ and actively worshipped at the Greater Pentecostal Temple with her family. She spent all of her life in service, leading people to Christ. Nyiesha volunteered, worked hard in the community, and lived her life proclaiming God’s good news knowing that only what you do for Christ will last. She believed that “It still took a village!! A hug, a smile, or words of encouragement makes all the difference”.
Nyiesha earned her wings on Thursday, November 29, 2023. God dispatched his angels to bring her home to get her wings and heavenly reward. There too in “Ny’s ” victory was her father, Richard Harold Morrison; son, Deandre Williams, grandfather, John Quincy Mitchell, Sr.; grandmother, Florence Tinney “Cissy” Mitchell; uncle, Dale Mitchell; and great aunt, Marion Little.
Nyiesha leaves the legacy of love and precious memories with her husband, DeRande Williams; children; Malia Morrison, Daylon Williams, Nathalia Williams, DeRande Powell, and Nathan Williams; mother, Lori Allison Mitchell; siblings, Tresha Morrison, Felisha Morrison, Mary Morrison, Ameyha Carter; God children, Cynthia & Tyrese; aunts & uncles, John Q. Mitchell (Carol) , Frederick A. Mitchell, Gwendolyn Douglass (William), Cheryl L. Mitchell, Jeffrey Mitchell Timothy Mitchell (Judy) of MD, Tracy L. Mitchell of Charles E. Mitchell (Mona), Carla (Robert) Bowens, Gail Morrison, Robin Sharp and Jimmy Morrison; a host of grandchildren, nieces/nephews, cousins, other family members, close friends, and her Church family. Her words of encouragement and selfless acts of love will always be cherished.
