Opal M. Banks was born September 8,1938 in Forest City, Arkansas to Ethel and A.L. Kilgore who preceded her in death. Her grandparents Mable and Budd Watson and husband Tyree Banks also preceded her in death.
She met her husband Tyree Banks in the early 60’s and dated for a couple of years and was married for 30 yrs. To that union one daughter was born, Dorothy Ann. They cherished this bundle of joy, being a daddy’s girl she played on Dad’s love and avoided a few rods of corrections.
Opal accepted Christ at an early age. She moved from Arkansas to Memphis and united with the Spiritual Union Baptist Church.
Opal loved get togethers with family and friends. After the passing of her husband, she moved to Kansas City. She also enjoyed playing cards and casinos. She worked in housekeeping in private homes and later became a cook at Ponchos for seven years,
Opal leaves to cherish her memories, Dorothy Ann Chambliss (Arthur Ray), 4 grandkids, and 11 great grands. Special nieces and nephew of M
emphis Tennessee and special friend, Dolly Cross of Memphis.
Special thanks to all the staff at Alpine Breeze, everyone was so caring an showed so much love to her during the 12 years she was a resident there. Just to name a few, Angie, Tamala, L..C., Tim, Pam, and her Dr. Nicole. To those who went over and beyond their call of duty. We just want to say we love you.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 4, 2024, visitation will be from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC. 2800 East 18th st., Kansas City, Missouri 64127.
