Robert Dewayne Thompson, Jr. was born on January 15, 1997, in Kansas City, MO to the union of LaKedra D. Freeman and Robert D. Thompson, Sr. He received his education in the Kansas City, MO public school system. He was baptized at an early age by the Reverand Lesley J. Winfield, Jr. from Genesis Missionary Baptist Church.
He held numerous jobs in the Kansas City metropolitan area and was most recently employed with a biohazard waste company. He could always be counted on to assist with odd jobs around the household and lawn care and snow removal.
In his youth, he played with the Tigers little league football team under the leadership of Coach Keith Jones, and he played on a youth baseball team. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He recently cheered his team on to victory when they won their fourth Super Bowl. He had an infectious smile and lit up the room when he entered.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and could always be counted on for a good laugh or joke. He was a loving and active father to his three children, Ry’Asia, Sage, and Rylo, he enjoyed taking them to various entertainment attractions.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rev. Jesse J. Freeman, Arnett Washington; maternal great- grandfather, Henry Yeager, Sr.; paternal great-grandmother, Ruth Elizabeth Thompson: Great Aunts, Shirley Sutherlin and Sharon Roullins, Uncles, Michael Washington, Daryl Washington, and Kevin Thompson, Sr.; Great Uncle Henry Yeager Jr. and brother Dre Thompson.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Ry’ Asia Thompson, Sage Dunn, and Rylo Thompson; Parents LaKedra D. Freeman and Robert Dewayne Thompson Sr.; siblings, Keshondra Coates (Larry), Brandon Thompson, and Kris Thompson. His beloved grandmothers, Rose Freeman, Jo Ann Thompson Deans; Great-Grandmother, Viola Yeager; Great- Aunt Diane Yeager, Betty Thompson; aunts, Michelle Freeman, D’Nisha Freeman, Carolynn Washington, Phyllis Smith, Michelle Tilford, Darlene Hanson, Nicki Reed, and Shayla Thompson; Great Uncles Terrell Thompson, and James Thompson, Uncles, Keric Freeman (Carla), Anthony Thompson, Bicardi Thompson, and nephew, Lucky Coates. He also leaves two special cousins who were like brothers, Kevin Thompson, Jr., and Derrick Hammond. He leaves behind a host of cousins and loving friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024, visitation will be held from 2 P.M. - 3 P.M. with services beginning at 3 P.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC 2800 East 18th St., Kansas City, Missouri 64127.
