Roosevelt Racy Jr., was born on May 14, 1965 to Katie Mae and Roosevelt Racy Sr., in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools and went to Job Corps in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he graduated and received his certificate in Masonry.
After returning home from Job Corps, he was employed at Tasty Bread in Lenexa, Kansas. He also worked in the family business “Roosevelt Racy Body Shop”, along with various other jobs, until he lost his sight to Glaucoma at the age of 38.
It wasn't easy for “Jr” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, and very challenging for him learning to adjust to a new way of life. At that point, residing with his sister, Patricia.
Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age by confessing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He loved his family and they loved him dearly. Although Roosevelt never married or had any children, he spent a lot of time with his niece, great-niece, and nephews, playing, joking around, and sharing many laughs of love together. Roosevelt was the life of the party with his dance moves he called the gigolo, but to others as the “Junior Move.” He had Charisma and Charm, when it came to the ladies, whether they were a friend or not, he always greeted them with a smile saying, “hello gorgeous.” Jr., spoke and asked about his family often, never forgetting a birthday of anyone he knew about. He found great joy and pure delight when he got a chance to spend time with his father, sister, and all the birthday parties, and family gatherings. He also enjoyed spending time socializing with his friends. His passion was listening to old sitcoms like, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Sanford and Son, just to name a few. He would reminisce about his past, him and his brother-in-law, about back in the day playing basketball and shooting pool. They would go round for round in debating who got beat on the court. However his greatest passion was talking about his Cadillacs he had and passing the time by talking on the phone to his dad, niece, and two best friends daily.
Roosevelt Jr. transitioned this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. His mother, Katie Mae Racy; and great– nephew, Blu Manning preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Roosevelt Racy Sr.; sister, Patricia (Jon) Reese; aunts, Ruthie Ward, Blanche Stanley, and Essie Bradford; uncles, Vandell Racy Sr., and David Racy (Beulah Gaskin); niece, Latrice Ferguson; great-niece, Naytive Giladi; nephews, Bobby Manning Jr., Andre Giladi, Deshaun Ferguson, and Dwayne Ferguson; best friends, Roy Young, and Roy Richards; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
