Rose Lane

Rose Etta Lane, the daughter of Flenord and Bernice Wright, was born May 1, 1944 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was the fourth of seven children and was lovingly known as Rose among family and friends. She was preceded in death by her Father Flenord Wright Sr., Mother Bernice Littlejohn (Wright), Husband Joseph E. Lane, and Sister Clovis (Shug) Kill.

She was educated in the Kansas City area, where she would ultimately build a loving family as well as forge long-lasting friendships along the way. Rose graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. On June 21st, 1965, Rose married the love of her life, Joseph E. Lane, of Kansas City, Missouri. They would remain married for 50 years until Joseph’s passing. From this union, two adoring children Anjanette and Scott were born.

Rose was employed by Western Electric, now known as AT&T, for approximately 25 years in various departments and positions. She then changed       careers and became a Medical Assistant, where she extended her nurturing spirit beyond her family, connecting with the community and healing others with love. Her gentle touch and kind words comforted many, making her a cherished figure in the healthcare community.

She worked as a medical assistant until she retired from Midwest Nephrology Consultants of Kansas City, leaving a legacy of compassion and care in her wake. Rose approached her work with a dedication that went beyond professional duty; she saw each patient as an individual with a unique story, treating them with empathy and respect.

Rose was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She lived life filled with joy and love, always       carrying a smile and providing encouraging words for her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as her “great-grands,” were the joy of her life. She beamed with pride, sharing stories and accomplishments, creating a bond that will forever be etched in their hearts.

Always leading a beautiful life with style and grace, Rose surrounded herself with love everywhere she went. She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter Anjanette Hogan (Teon); Son Scott Keith Lane (Kimmie) of Houston, Texas; Sister Jessie  Cannon (Tyrell) of Adelanto California; Brother Flenord Wright, Jr of Houston Texas; Sisters Ivory Smith (Vernal) of Claremont California, Ester Lawrence of Rancho Cucamonga California; Lothell Dunn of Alta Loma California; five grandchildren Cameron D.  Gilyard, Devon A. Lane, Ryan J. Gilyard, Keyarah R. Lane; Khalil R. Lane; three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends. Rose’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and a life well-lived.
