Rosemary Louise “Rosie” Higgins, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri was born in Cassville, Missouri on November 14, 1931 to parents Lewis and Pearl (Lewellen) Brown, she was raised in Independence, Missouri and went to her heavenly home on September 29, 2024. After graduating from Northeast High School Rosie married Raymond Lorenzo Callahan in 1955 with whom she had four children: Kim, Karen, Kathi and Kevin.
In 1979 she married Kenton Higgins and welcomed into her life his six children: Kenton Jr., Kerry, Kevin, Tim, Tom and Kathryn. Rosie was employed at WDAF-TV, KY-102 and 61 Country for 31 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, now Connection Point Church for nearly 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Brown, husband Kenton Higgins, his son Kevin Higgins, her son Kevin Ray Callahan and her grandson Macray Callahan Winsor. She is survived by her children and spouses: Kim Johnson and Greg Plaza, Karen Callahan, Kathi and Darren Welch. Rosie loved her families: her extended Welch family, her media family, her church family, her family of friends and her dogs Ziggy and Sophie.
Thank you for loving her back. Our mom enjoyed watching the Royals (and even kept her own scorecard sheets), cheering on the KC Chiefs, antiquing or as she called it “junking” and listening to live music. She was an avid reader and faithfully completed her daily crossword puzzles. She had a thirst for knowledge and was the best at giving advice to us and our friends. Mom lived a happy life, and as our friend Laura once said, “We can all learn a lot from sweet Rosie”.
