Roy Lee Darrington was born May 31, 1967, to Roy Rivers and Clara Darrington in Kansas City, MO.
Roy received his education in the Kansas City, MO public schools, with completion of his G.E.D. Roy was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and a friend. Roy received Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He attended many different churches in the Kansas City area and while living in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Roy worked at many different jobs and loved working with his hands, he was described as a hard worker who loved the outdoors. Roy was last
employed as a general laborer. Roy greatly enjoyed working in construction, working in the yard, and eating; he loved pork chops, fried chicken, and sweet potato pie. He loved old school music by artists such as Anita Baker, The O’Jays, Stephanie Mills, Isley Brothers, Patti Labelle, The Whispers, Surface, The Temptations, Rick James, Teena Marie, Switch, and many more. Roy also loved many gospel artist, one of his favorite gospel songs were “Something about the name Jesus” by Rance Allen. Roy enjoyed break dancing and turning flips as a teen and young adult.
Roy was a generous man to his family and friends. Roy was a dedicated husband and father. Roy always showed love and compassion for others.
Roy will be missed by so many! Roy married Cecila Lopez-Darrington to this union seven children were born. Roy gained his wins on May 22, 2024, due to a terrible car accident. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; brothers, Frederick D. Darrington, and Reginald Rivers; sisters, Debra M. Darrington, and Inez Watts.
Roy leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Cecilia Lopez Darrington of the home; sons, John Fierro, Samuel Carney-Braveman (Marshonda), Jordan Rodriguez, and Rodrigo Darrington; daughters, Marissa Barnes, Josefina Lopez, all of Kanss City, MO. Josefina Lopez, and Isabel Lopez of Orlando, FL. His mother, Clara Darrington of KCMO; Siblings, Carolyn Darrington (James), Eddie M. Johnosn of KCMO, Dale Darrington (Lisa) of Corpus Christi, TX, Anthony Darrington of Minneapolis, MN, Allen Darrington (Debra), Sheri Williams, Eugenia Miller (Phillip) of KCMO, Sephanie Casiano of Corpus Christi, Anita Darrington, Sandra Rivers, Telia Dunn, Lenise Toliver (Marlone), Sarah Robinson, and Tywana Watts all of KCMO. Roy also leaves one uncle behind in KCMO, Willie Willis; five grandchildren, Jaden Fierro, Jaxon Fierro, Kylee Fierro, Nayeli Rodriguez of KCMO, and Xadrain Code King of Orlando, FL. Roy also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, visitation will be from 9 A.M. - 10 A.M. with services beginning at 10 A.M. at Golden Gate located at 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64127.
