Ruth Mae (Momo) Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully at home February 22nd, holding hands with her youngest daughter, Deborah, as a red bird peaked in the window, signaling to the family her husband Carol came to guide her to the Pearl Gates of Heaven. Born May 5th, 1939 in Walnut Ridge, AR to Warren and Lorine Smith. Ruth graduated from Hoxie High School in 1957. Ruth’s journey through life was marked by God, love, and family.
Ruth married Carol Eugene Smith September 20th, 1958 in Walnut Ridge, AR. Together they created a family having 4 children; Vivian Diane Smith, Carol E. Smith Jr., Rebecca Ruth Salinas, Deborah LaRay Peña. Carol and Ruth eventually moved to Kansas City, Mo in 1961 where they lived together. Ruth worked as a wife and homemaker until 1994 when Ruth and Carol opened Smitty’s Tires. Touching many lives thru sponsoring teams for their grandkids baseball teams that they dearly loved cheering for. Ruth’s devotion to her family was a priority throughout her life. She also enjoyed activities through her church, Raytown Church of Christ.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Vivian, Rebecca, Deborah; son Carol, grandchildren D.A, D.J and Ashley, great grandchildren Perfecto, Mercedes, Frankie, Sophie, Kayne, D.J jr and Aria; great great grandchildren Kaliyah, Ramiel, Santana brothers Johnie and Paul Smith; many dear relatives, and a wonderful circle of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carol; mother, Lorine; father, Warren, brother, Ray W Smith.
