Sandra Regina Pickens

Ms. Sandra Regina Pickens was born on February 24, 1962, to Beatrice Whitley and Jerry Cameron in Kansas City, Missouri. She is the third born of six children, and the only girl. Sandra received her elementary and high school education within the Kansas City School District in Kansas City, Missouri. She accepted Christ at an early age. 

Sandra was a loving, caring, funny, kindhearted, yet very outspoken person. She was a hardworking woman. She worked in the healthcare field as a caregiver for many years, which she loved. As a caregiver, she took pride in caring for her patients, her patients were her extended family. Sandra was all about family. She loved her family. She enjoyed sitting on her porch spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved playing dominoes and tunk, while listening to her favorite, some “Down Home Blues”, B.B. King & Z.Z. Hill was her favorite. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking for her family, she made a mean mac n cheese “Sandra’s style” which everyone loved, talking on the phone for countless hours, and watching movies. 

Sandra loved traveling out of town to visit her family. She would be ecstatic about going down south; therefore, you knew when she returned, she’d have some stories to tell.

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the Lord saw fit to call one of his servants to her everlasting home. Preceding her in death, her parents Beatrice Whitley and Jerry Cameron, her brother James Pickens; her maternal & paternal grandparents.

Sandra is survived by her Stepfather Clarence Whitley of Kansas City, Missouri, (4)Brothers: Lawrence (Theresa) Pickens, Fredrick (LaTonia)Pickens, Roger Pickens, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bruce Pickens of Atlanta, Georgia. A host of nieces & nephews, great nieces/nephews, great-great niece, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A very special friend Leon Solomon.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 3 P.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC located at 2800 East 18th  st., Kansas City, Mo 64127.
