Syndee was born in Topeka, Kansas to Steve and Deb Southerland. She was the first child of a wonderful family with two sisters, Tobi and Sunny and brother Cody. Syndee attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where she met her husband, Jim Haake. After wedding celebrations and graduation, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they built a life together and celebrated 32 years of marriage.
Syndee mothered two daughters, Hannah and Kyra raising them to be beautiful, strong women like she was. Her love of her daughters and family can not be understated. She was tremendously giving and always there to console and support even up to the final days of her life. Syndee was a terrific cook, graduating from JCCC with a Culinary degree and always impressing family and friends with meals she would just “whip- up”.
Syndee battled breast cancer for 5 years, succumbing to that disease after it moved to her liver and never left. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family.
