Tammy Yvonne Hurd

Tammy Yvonne Hurd was born on May 29, 1964 to Mary Louise and Napoleon Hurd in Kansas City, Missouri. Tammy received her formal education in the Kansas City Missouri School District. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1982.

Tammy accepted Christ at an early age and with her family became a member of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Joseph Clark. Later in

life she would become a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Alfred White Sr. It was during that time that Tammy followed her true calling of servitude. She volunteered countless hours in the Vernell White Food Pantry, as well as in the kitchen feeding the less fortunate. She also was a member of the non-profit KC Tenant Organization where she joined the fight to ensure everyone had access to safe and affordable housing in the city.

Tammy had a natural gift of storytelling, and she always had a joke or a phrase that could make anyone laugh. She would speak to anyone who would listen and was loved by many who encountered her.

Tammy entered eternal life on Sunday January 21, 2024 in her home. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Louise Hurd, her brother Luther Eugene

Hurd, her father Napoleon Hurd, along with a host of aunts and uncles including the aunt she was closest to, Juanita Elder.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughters Chanel Moore (Enoch), Cherell Hurd (William Jr.), Her grandchildren; Kezia, Derrell, DeRhia, William III, Andrew, Ashaun, Aneyia, and Amari. Her Nieces and Nephew; Giovanni Jones, Christopher Hurd, and Crystal Hurd. Her stepmom MaryAnn Hurd, and Step Sisters Kim and Teresa, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 12, 2024, visitation will be from 2 P.M. - 3 P.M. with services beginning at 3 P.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC. 2800 East 18th St, Kansas City, Missouri 64127.
