In Loving Memory of Mr. Terranie Keith Murphy, Sr.
Terranie “Terry” K. Murphy, Sr., was born in Kansas City, Kansas on November 3, 1953, to Verestine Murphy and Lee Edward Younger. Verestine later married John L. Peters and he raised Terranie as his own. His parents, his brother Kenneth Peters I, and his nephew Kenneth Peters II all preceded him in death.
Terranie grew up in the Kansas City, MO area where he received his education and was employed. At an early age he joined and served in the Army National Guard. Two weeks prior to his passing Terranie was honored for his service in the US Military where he shared his troop was a part of the funeral procession for President Harry S. Truman.
On July 1, 1974 he was united in matrimony to Etta Harris. To this union of 30 years, two daughters and one son were born. Terranie loved to listen to jazz, watch action movies, boxing, eat good BBQ, and dancing. Terranie departed this life on December 20, 2024, at the age of 71.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Treniece Murphy, Taneeka Howard (William), and Terranie K. Murphy, Jr.; former wife, Etta Murphy; siblings, Kathy Peters, Ronna Kay Peters, and Rickey Peters (Karen); four grandchildren, Breanna Watson (Roderick), Ryan Pritchard, Christian Howard, and Riyah Howard; two great grandchildren, Brayden Lee and Remy Watson; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in the Jean Westlake Chapel at Sheffield Family Life Center located at 5700 Winner Rd., KCMO 64127
