Thomas Alexander Schwindt, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on January 20, 2024. Born on February 4, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, Thomas was a beloved husband, brother, father, stepfather, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Thomas was a man of great character and had a passion for law and helping others. He would often engage in conversations about legal matters and ways to counsel and support people in need. Additionally, Thomas had a love for downhill ski racing and enjoyed participating in races in Colorado, Utah, and Banff, Canada. Throughout his life, he also had a special affinity for dogs and was fortunate to have many furry companions.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Griffel Schwindt, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Juel Schwindt. He is also survived by his daughters and their husbands, Dr. Jay and Amy Nachtigal, and Dan and Debbie Jackson, as well as his stepson, Andrew Hurley, and stepson and wife, Michael and Amy Hurley. Thomas will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Mary Schwindt, and his sister, Susie Schwindt.
Thomas received his education from Central High School and went on to graduate from both Kansas University and the University of Missouri School of Law. He proudly served in the Marines as a Captain in JAG over in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.
Throughout his career, Thomas worked as an attorney, dedicating his expertise to assisting and advocating for others.
Thomas found solace and community at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
In his free time, Thomas enjoyed various hobbies, including snow skiing, golfing, biking, and cooking.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Golden Gate Cremation in Kansas City, Missouri.
Thomas Alexander Schwindt will be remembered for his kind heart, passion for the law, love for his family, and his zest for life. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
