Valetta Jean Thomas (Ford)

Valetta (Thomas) Ford was born February 08,1964 in Kansas City Missouri to Wilmer Ford Sr. and Wanda Strickland. Valetta, also known as “Val,” to friends and family was called home on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Saint Joseph Medical Center with all her kids by her side. Both parents, two sisters, Denise Ford-Shirley and Benita Shephard; two brothers Verdell Ford and Wilmer Ford Jr., all proceeded her in death. Valetta “Val” was educated at Lincoln high school in Kansas City, Missouri, Valetta worked in the housekeeping industry up until she got ill. She also received her nursing degree through the link program!

Valetta loved cooking and listening to music with her family and friends. She also enjoyed arts and crafts where she made many items that she gave to family members. Valetta love to laugh and state her favorite word “WHATEVER!!“ Both parents, two sisters, Denise Ford-Shirley and Benita Shephard; two brothers Verdell Ford and Wilmer Ford Jr., all preceded her in death. Valetta “Val” leaves to cherish her memories, her 5 kids, DeAndre Ford (Latoya), Lee Otis “Pig” Ford (Cecily), Keon Ford (Chharissa), Timothy Thomas (Saron) and her one and only daughter LaQuitta Thomas (Darrell), all of Kansas City, Missouri. Eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister Shirley Ann Ford, one special sister-in-law, Charlotte Ford, and one special brother-inlaw, Troy Nevels of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024, visitation will be from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Golden Gate located at 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64127. 

Interment will be in XII Gates , Kansas City, MO.
