Vonda Kai Wilson (Smith)

Vonda Kai (Smith) Wilson was born on November 16, 1964 at KU Medical Center to Juanita Smith and Allen Anderson. 

Vonda, along with her younger sisters were introduced to God at an early age by their grandmother, Luanna Smith. She later rededicated her life to Christ and found a home in Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member. 

Vonda received her education in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri school districts before earning a degree in business from Dickinson Business School. She would go on to hold various job titles before finding her passion in property management, building lasting relationships throughout the community. 

Vonda loved spending time with family and friends.

Rather grabbing a quick bite to eat or a concert with friends, an impromptu barbecue, sitting on her porch listening to music or hosting sleepovers with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren, she always made time. She was a helping hand to many even when she herself was in need. She was a listening ear with loads of sound advice, casting no judgement. A keeper of secrets with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed. 

Vonda was called home in the early morning hours of December 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Smith, father, Allen Anderson, maternal grandparents Luanna Smith and Joseph Smith, paternal grandparents, Elizabeth Anderson and Ray Anderson, husband, Ervis Wilson and step son Kenneth “Bus” Hopkins IV. 

Vonda leaves to cherish her memories three children, Marquisha Kelley, Gregory Jackson (Bobbi Jackson) and Keione Owens. Four grandchildren, Marquan Kelley, Marquis Kelley, Kei’Mon Jackson and Kei’Oni Jackson. Three sisters, Nichelle Smith, Krystal DePriest (Bryan DePriest) and Anissa Hayes (Damien Hayes) along with a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and bonus children. 

 A Funeral service will held Saturday at Golden Gate located at 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64127. The visitation will begin at 2:00pm, the service will follow at 3:00pm.
