Walter, fondly known as Lee, was born to Fred Hogan Jr. and Thelma Hatcher (Luther) on July 22, 1945, in Kansas City.
He was a skilled construction worker for many years. The latter years of his life he worked at Gates Barbeque for several years.
Walter enjoyed singing (some of his siblings say “he sings like Marvin Gaye), and spending time with his friends and family. One thing about Walter is you would never see him in a pair of jeans or tennis shoes. He loved his dress slacks and dress shoes!
Walter was a feisty one! With his can do it his-self attitude. He was feisty up until his last spoken words before transitioning. “Walter, would you like some ice chips. “Umm Humm”. Well, you have to open your mouth. “Give me the cup, I can do it myself”. He did not have enough strength to hold the cup. “Give me the spoon”. He could not hold the spoon. Then he decided the only option was to allow someone to put ice chips in his mouth.
