Zina Romeanea Knighten was born December 17, 1957, in Kansas City Missouri to LJ Knighten and Shirley Smith Knighten.
She was educated in public schools of Kansas City Missouri and graduated from Southwest High School. After graduating she continued her education at Penn Valley Community College where she earned her associate degree. Zina then went to work for IRS where she retired after 25 years. Once she retired, she began her career as a childcare provider once she became a grandmother. She cared for many children in her daycare
until her health began to fail.
Zina loves to sing and dance, but most of all she loved spending every minute and time with her sons and grandsons. She loved every moment with her family. Holidays were very special at her house. She would decorate inside and outside her house, as she continued to live her mother’s tradition. Zina departed this life on Sunday March 24, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital after battling with cancer. Her Mother Shirley Smith Knighten, Father LJ Knighten, sisters Jessie Henderson, Sadia A. Knighten, nephew Quenton Knighten and special cousin Brian Jones, all
preceded her in death.
She Leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughter in law David and Rena Tilley, Zariah Knighten, Elijah White; Three brothers Le’Jean Knighten Sr. (Patrice), Zachary Knighten (Amanda Washington), and Daniel Knighten (Leah); one sister Shanna Bowen (Kevin); Five grandchildren David Tilley 3rd, Josiah Tilley, Dejon Tilley, Daveon Tilley and Jaxson Tilley, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wedenesday June 12, 2024, visitation will be from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC 2800 East 18th st., Kansas City, Missouri 64127.
